| The Energy Performance Certificate is the industry standard appraisal of a properties energy efficiency. The survey is carried out by an accredited Domestic Energy Assessor and a Certificate will be issued giving the precise rating of the building. |

| What kind of things does the Energy assessor look for? |
| The DEA will measure the property and calculate the volume of the property, he will also note the number of habitable rooms and the type of property i.e. semi detached, flat, terraced etc. |

| An inspection of the boiler or heating apparatus will be noted and also heating controls and radiators. |
| |
| Insulation in the loft and walls will be noted. |
| |
| Type of power supply recorded. |
| |
| Calculations will be made using software and the Certificate will be issued. |

| What use is an EPC? |
| In addition to telling you what your homes current rating is, it will also recommend changes that would improve your properties rating. The Certificate will tell you what the potential new rating could be and it will also demonstrate what kind of savings could be made. |

| The document is a legal entity and can be lodged on the Government database Landmark. The EPC is an integral part of the Home Information Pack (HIP) and can be used in that capacity saving you costs in the future. |

| The EPC is also mandatory if you ever rent out your property. The EPC we issue is valid for 10 years |

| What happens to my EPC if I make improvements? |
| The Energy Doctor wants you to improve your property. If you undertake energy improvements through The Energy Doctor, he will take into account the amendments and re-issue a new Certificate FREE of charge. |
